What do you do with the scraps from your quilts? I typically cut smaller pieces up in various sizes.
I may cut larger pieces in 2 1/2” strips or into smaller squares.

The squares are perfect for making hexis, I have a stash ready to take with me at any time. If I have a lot of particular colors or coordinating colors I put them together in granny squares bundles and then blocks.

Recently, I’ve been using the larger longer strips of scraps to make scrappy strip squares. I not only use up the fabric but also the scraps of batting.

I take the the scraps of batting and sew them together into larger pieces then cut those into 9” squares. I leave a stack near my machine and when the scrap of strips gets big, I stop and sew a few blocks together.

Once I have enough for a quilt top I assemble and use that quilt to practice my free motion quilting.

These Scrap quilts are perfect to have around the house to grab when sitting on the couch watching a movie or outside watching the sunset!
